The wrong materials may prove costly for several reasons...
  • Used boxes may lack the heavyweight reinforcement of household goods boxes and could crush easily
  • Boxes in odd sizes and shapes make loading difficult and less efficient. Also,  they may not fit well together, causing the boxes to shift during transit. They are often difficult to seal securely.
  • It is important to use genuine packing tape. Other types of tape, such as masking tape, do not adhere as strongly and do not offer the same strength.
  • Newspaper may be used for padding and wrapping some items, but articles such as porcelain and china should be wrapped in tissue or special moving paper to prevent ink transfer.
